MATERIALS:
- Visual aids (e.g., number cards with whole numbers 0-10)
- Whiteboard and markers or a chalkboard and chalk
ACTIVITIES:
1. Introduction (5 minutes):
- Begin by asking
students if they know what numbers are. Encourage them to share their thoughts.
- Explain that
numbers help us count and measure things, and today they will learn about a
special kind of number called "whole numbers.
2. Definition of Whole Numbers (5 minutes):
- Define whole
numbers as the set of counting numbers that start from zero and go on
infinitely without any fractions or decimals.
- Show visual aids
with whole numbers from 0 to 10 to illustrate.
3. Counting Activity (5 minutes):
- Use number cards
or the whiteboard to display each whole number from 0 to 10 one by one.
- Ask students to
repeat the numbers after you and count along.
4. Interactive Activity (5 minutes):
- Engage students in a simple counting
exercise. Ask them to count objects in the classroom, such as chairs or
pencils, using whole numbers.
5. Writing Whole Numbers (5 minutes):
- Write whole
numbers from 0 to 10 on the whiteboard or chalkboard.
- Ask students to
come to the board one by one and trace the numbers.
6. Discussion (3 minutes):
- Encourage
students to share examples of when they might use whole numbers in everyday
life, such as counting their age, the number of fingers, or the pages in a book
of whole numbers.
Assessment:
- Assess students' ability to recognize and repeat whole
numbers from 0 to 10 during the counting activities and writing exercise.
